AZT 2015

The Arizona Trail (AZT) is a National Scenic Trail that winds 800 miles through Arizona, from the border of Utah to the border of Mexico. In its northern section it crosses the Kaibab Plateau, passes through the Grand Canyon and the Coconino Plateau, and traverses around the highest peak in Arizona (Humphrey’s Peak 12,635′). Past Flagstaff, the trail continues its southerly route through desert wildernesses and mountainous “sky islands” to conclude at the border southeast of Tucson.

The trail was completed only within the last few years, and is maintained and promoted by the Arizona Trail Association. They do some really amazing things for the trail, and you should definitely check them out!

Had the pleasure of meeting you for a brief few moments just north of Flagstaff on the Babbitt ranch in the high winds and blowing dust. Hope you enjoyed the cold bottle of water. I was the guy in the tan truck with the camper shell hunting antelope. I was successful in my hunt and hope you are on your hike.

Hi Adam, of course I remember you! Thanks for checking out my site and thank you for the cold water. It was sure refreshing on that hot and dusty road. I am happy to hear your hunt was successful. The hike has been as well so far.

Hey NoDay (Amanda)! Hope you got off the Rim OK after your visit/stop off at Mormon Lake. You made it through the San Fran Peaks just in time! They got another hit of snow this morning from this current storm. Hope you found a dry place from this storm, wherever you are. Best wishes on the rest of your journey! The temps should at least be good for hiking on the southern end of AZT.
